Why do people always say that men need variety in their life or they will get bored?

My husband is 43,im 39 and we have been happily married 17 yrs....We have always had a routine but satisfying life and neither 1 of us has ever gotten bored or felt the need to try new and different things...A few times NOT cause i thought he was bored but just out of curiousity i asked him if he ever got bored with our life and wanted to try something new and different and he always said "no i like the way things are"...So i dont think all men get bored and need variety..
