Simple sponge cake recipe for 10" & 8" tins?? Also any tips on icing?

Hi, its my daughter 1 st birthday iin 2 weeks and I would like to make her her first birthday cake. Im not a cook at all, so am looking for a nice simple sponge cake recipe for a 10" and 8" cake tin. Also Im hoping to tier it and add icing - perhaps piper as probably easier?? Any help would be fab. Im Uk based, thanks
