Sitting up will probably be more comfortable for her, because mucous won't pool in her chest as much, but she will eventually have to lay down and rest. Make sure she eats and takes in plenty of orange juice when she feels up to it as well. Those illnesses combined can be very dangerous so she needs to rest as much as possible, and you need to keep your distance as much as possible.
