Kittens and toilet paper?

We have two 6 month old kittens who are obsessed with our toilet paper roll. We have moved it from the designated area to on top of the towel rack, and on top of the counter, and they still seem to get at it late at night as we sleep. How do I deter them from that, as we can't keep replacing the toilet paper roll?
